FALKLANDS VIDEOS
Happy birthday to Mick Dawson, the founder of Cockleshell Endeavour and one half of the team currently kayaking 650 miles down the length of the UK!
Many of you will know Mick, but for those of you who don’t, he’s a former Royal Marine and Falkland’s veteran who has spent the last ...two decades doing some pretty crazy water based challenges!
He’s one of the the world’s most experienced ocean rowers, twice rowing the Atlantic, and in 2009 Mick, together with his friend and fellow ocean rower Chris Martin skippered the first team to successfully row, 7,000 miles across the hostile north Pacific route; Japan to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
In 2018 he rowed 3000 miles across the Pacific from California to Hawaii with fellow former Royal Marine Steve Sparkes.
He’s also kayaked around the Falkland Islands, completed the Yukon River Quest and the Devizes to Westminster and has written two books!
Phew!
If you think after all of that, Mick deserves a drink or two, you can buy him a “virtual pint” by donating to The Royal Marines Charity in his name. Just click the link below.
Happy Birthday Mick!!
THE ROYAL MARINES CHARITY
Supporting the Royal Marines Family alongside the health and safety of our staff are our highest priorities. As the advice about COVID-19 develops, we have followed government guidelines for staff based at our offices on Whale Island, at CTCRM and RMB STONEHOUSE and following some modifications in the way we work we will mainly be working from home until further notice. This helps to ensure that we are protecting both our host military communities and staff.
